Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? You’re in the right place! From how to choose the best photo to what kind of pets I can paint (hint: all of them!), this page covers all the little details to help you feel confident and excited about your custom portrait. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to chat!
No! I will paint any animal given the opportunity. Dogs and cats are just so common; they are what I see the most. Bring on your lizard, horse, etc., and I will do my best!
I will never reproduce your pet painting in any way for commercial or personal use. I do however reserve the right to post any of my produced artwork on my social medias for self promotion. I will do my best to post most of my work so PLEASE let me know if the portrait is a suprise gift so I do not ruin the magic. Also, purchasing a portrait does not guarentee that it will be posted on my social medias.
Shipping will be flat-rate ground shipping, and each painting will cost a base $30. If the customer requires next-day shipping for any reason, they will have to cover any additional costs. The packages will be securely wrapped with several protective layers and placed inside a cardboard box. Shipping will be discrete on the outside, so if the item is a gift for someone, they will not know the contents based on the box. If you are local and I am delivering the painting to you or you are picking it up, there is no shipping fee.
No returns are accepted ever as long as the product has been received. The package will be securely wrapped to make sure it arrives safely. If the package happens to get lost in transit and is confirmed by the shipping company themselves, then a return may be issued. During the painting process, the customer will receive updated photos and a final confirmation photo to ensure the product is as desired. Henceforth, a return in regards to disliking the final product will never be accepted. If you happen to no longer want the portrait, the only other time a refund is accepted is if I have not yet started the painting in any capacity.
Turnaround time will vary depending on the size and fur type of the animal chosen. Up to an 8×10 will take about 3 days after confirmation of the commission. 12×12 and 11×14 will take around 5 days to complete. 16×20 and 18×24 will take around 8 days to complete. These are all rough estimates, as each portrait will differ and depend on additional factors. You will be given a turnaround time upon placing your order. Also, please note that I am currently employed and have family obligations, so emergencies will happen, but I will update the buyer on any emergency delays. I will also not work on any major holidays, so that will be factored into the time if ordered around those dates.
Yes! I will send updates through our preferred form of communication. If you prefer not to be bothered and only see the final product, please inform me when ordering. I will send a picture when the base layers are down, when the main form is done, and once the picture is fully complete. If you require more, and I have a picture on hand, then I will send it as soon as possible. Upon sending these photos, please address any concerns you have since it is easier to fix in the process than after. Once the final portrait is done, I will ensure you are happy with the product before shipping it off.
Any picture of your pet in high quality is preferred. Facing forward or at the angle you want it done in is what you should send me. The more pictures, the better, of course! The better quality the picture, the more details and life I can put into the portrait. If the pet is deceased and you only have grainy photos, that is still fine. I may just need to contact you more to make sure the portrait is just right. Natural lighting also really helps with the quality of the photo, so any outside can be of great help. If you are looking to get 2 animals done on the same canvas, having them in separate pictures works as well. They do NOT need to be in the same photo. Also, if you or any other objects are in the photo, do not worry just as long as the pet has a good headshot shot that’s all that matters! Below are some examples of my own pets that are ideal references.
Hopefully, any questions will be fleshed out when discussing your commission, but if you have any preliminary questions before requesting a commission, you can contact me on either Facebook, Instagram, or my email. Email will be what is checked the most frequently and easiest to catch, so if it is a pressing question, please contact me via my email.
